Your First Day

Riders all over the world, from the United States to Israel and Singapore, come to St. Anton, and are welcomed by our local guides, who are very fluent in English. Once you’ve booked a guiding session, your day will typically start at 9am, where you will meet your expert guide. He or she has already assessed the snow conditions and will give you a brief introduction to that day’s plan, including preparation for any avalanche risks and equipment check.

Head to the Mountains

Depending on the conditions and the group’s riding abilities, your guide will choose the most suitable terrain. To make yourself accustomed to the snowy weather, begin your adventure with lift-accessed off-piste skiing. The guide will assess your riding level for the first time and help you refine your technique on gentle slopes before moving on to steeper and more adventurous terrain.

Advanced Techniques & Avalanche Training

Taking turns in deep snow, gliding through steep descents, and maintaining control in different conditions require advanced expertise in riding. Alpenature’s off-piste guiding ensures riders from all levels of freeriding will get to improve their skills. Avalanche safety training, such as the usage of probes, shovels, and transceivers, is included. Some routes can be more physically demanding, requiring boot-tracking and carrying of your gear. The advanced training session ensures each member gets the maximum fun out of off-piste skiing in Austria.

Second Half of The Day

After a fun-filled morning session, stop for a much-needed midday break at a traditional Austrian mountain hut to enjoy a delectable lunch. Relax while you discuss your morning session and prepare for more riding in the afternoon.

The day’s off-piste adventure typically ends around 3 to 4pm. The final part of the tour is not just about wrapping up but a very important part of the learning process. After coming back to the base point, you along with other members of the group get a detailed debrief from the guide. This includes a detailed analysis of your performance, your strengths and also your areas of improvement, making you even more prepared for the next session.

For the more adventurous ones, you can opt to skip lunch and pack some snacks for short breaks in between and maximise riding time throughout the entire day. Your pit stop will be at one of the renowned mountain restaurants where the debrief will take place, as well as your late lunch or early dinner, followed by the ultimate après-ski experience!
